Wilda Gonzalez is our visual artist of the month. She is an artist that comes from a proud Puerto Rican heritage. Wilda was born and raised in the Bronx, NYC.
Wilda Gonzalez attended the High School of Art and Design, from there, she continued her studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons School of Design in New York City.
Wilda's creativity and love for the arts has been one that has marked her journey in life. She has been in numerous productions and has established a road for others to walk upon.
For 17 years Gonzalez has been an in-residence artist and art program director at Riverbank State Park in Manhattan. She has also worked as a visual arts educator for the Children’s Art Carnival since 1988, not to mention that she has taught art in both public and parochial schools. Additionally, Gonzalez has been an art instructor for Yaffa Productions, ASPIRA of New York and the Bronx Museum.
Wilda Gonzalez is the founder and director of Caribe Anani studio.Anani Studio was created to provide and enable folkloric cultural diversity for children with special needs and has supervised day care programs and art therapy for children (ages four to seven), it is also a place where she presents her artwork.
Wilda Gonzalez is a contagious and creative force whose powerful energy helps others reach a creative zone that heals, helps, and enlightens.
Some of her art exhibitions have been in 2011 Committee November 25th anniversary commemorative poster artist, The American African Museum 2011 Artcurian Tour, The Clemente Soto velez Cultural & Educational Center: "Femicide Awareness" Exhibit, 2010 and The Artcurian Gallery Artist Speakers Bureau, 2010. Her works have also been featured such as the Montgomery advertiser.com in January 2008, The Birmingham News in January of 2008 and The Children Art Carnival News Letter in 2005.
